A charming ivory netsuke of a sleeping housecat on a pumpkin-shaped fan. The facial features of the cat (neko) are crafted sensitively, with closed eyes and peaceful expression. The fur is incised precisely and the tail curls around its two paws which are touching the handle of the fan. The underside with good and large himotoshi, one of them in the shape of a kidney. Neko is also the nickname for a Geisha.
